A one-of-a-kind celebration of Adirondack natural and cultural history

The loons will be racing and chainsaws will be whirring this year. The day will include presentations from local experts, a demo from SUNY-ESFs woodsmen team and of course, the much anticipated rubber loon race! Sponsor a loon for a chance at winning one of our many exciting prizes from local Adirondack businesses! Visit our website for more information.

A huge part of Newcomb’s history revolves around logging and includes a very rich biological legacy as well. The two things that seem to be emblematic about Newcomb surfaced as Logging and Loons, the name of this weekend’s event.

  • The world’s only Rubber Loon Race
  • Adirondack Bird Walk
  • Adirondack chair building workshop
  • Demonstration from SUNY-ESF Woodsmen Team
  • Presentation and demo by Artist-in-Residence Frances Gaffney

At 3:00 pm, 500 made-in-the-USA rubber loons will dash to the finish line in our 3rd annual Loon Race! Sponsor a loon for $20 and support the outdoor educational programming at AIC.
