Celebrating the Great War (WWI) TR Weekend 2017:
TR Weekend is Newcomb’s premier event, celebrating Theodore Roosevelt’s journey out of the High Peaks wilderness from Newcomb to the White House following President McKinley’s assassination in Buffalo NY. Events are planned over the entire weekend throughout Newcomb and designed for families, cultural and informative entertainment. This year’s venue highlights the “100th Anniversary of The Great War (WWI)”. Events are finalized, and the committee has offered some teasers to get everyone primed for the activities developing. In addition to our always welcomed guest: Joe Wiegand posing as “TR”. Outdoor and indoor activities will take place all weekend, including ESF and Paul Smiths students competing in log rolling and lumberjack skirmishes, skits, presentations and discussions at Newcomb School, a Memorial service to WWI veterans and all military veterans, nurses, etc… So come on up 28N, the historic “Roosevelt Marcy Trail” into Newcomb, NY, the Heart of NY State’s Adirondack Park to enjoy it’s history, culture, wilderness and celebrate the 100th Anniversary of WWI.
